meet the chicks

So these are our chicks...Sweet Dee is my favorite I think, partially because she's got that crooked little mouth but also she really is sweet.  If any of the other birds got stuck outside of their little home for too long she would cry and cry until I came to put them back in. She obviously cares a lot about her fellow chicks. Num Num and Bok Bok, named by Ana and Koze, are both a little flighty and don't seem very excited about trying new things or being held. And Lucille...she was a late addition to the group. Initially Sweet Dee was a monstrous size compared to the other two and I felt like she wasn't fitting in. So I went back to the Urban Farm Store and got Lucille who is from the same batch as Sweet Dee. When I got Lucille they were exactly the same size and seemed to hit it off pretty well. Lucille would even clean Sweet Dee's beak whenever food would get caught in it. But now Lucille is HUGE compared to the others...and she looks kind of hawk-like to me. She's really friendly though and will jump up on the edge of their bin whenever we walk into the kitchen and she even comes over to Koze and lets him pet her. They all kind of freak out initially when you try to pick them up but settle in after just a few moments and generally fall right to sleep.
